Hola Familia!
Another week in the MTC has been amazing! Time is beginning to fly by now as our routines of classes and schedules seem to melt away.
This week we focused on the power of the Holy Spirit in a lesson. Hermano Olsen set up a staged lesson with Hermana King (recent convert) from our district. The powerful influence of the Holy Ghost was felt the moment Hermano Olsen knocked on the door, rather then preparing a laid out lesson he utilized the Spirit to open up the needs of the investigator. In my journal I wrote a friendly reminder about lesson preparation
"To help prepare for a lesson, create a map of scriptures, quotes, teachings, and experiences; and then trust the Holy Spirit to guide your brothers and sisters to salvation!"
The missionaries are not the teachers, rather we are tools utilized by the Holy Ghost to help reveal gospel truth to those seeking hope in this life. HE is the teacher, and through him powerful revelation can be found. In 3 Nephi 7:18 we read a powerful example of the importance of the Holy Ghost in conversion. I hope and pray to be like unto Nephi who knew the message was true and others could not deny him because of the spirit that he carried. For it was the spirit of angels which testified to the investigators souls the truth of the message. For HE, the Holy Spirit, is the teacher, and with him their is no limit.
This past week was the new Mission Presidents seminar here at the MTC. Our district had the opportunity to be taught by President and Sister Killpack who are opening up the new Orem, Utah Mission. He compared our studying time as a small Lifesaver candy. When looked at from a distance the candy may seem small and insignificant, but when placed in our mouth the familiar sweet taste can bring a smile to our face. We must strive to continually remind ourselves the 'sweetness' of this gospel and the joy it can bring to our lives. Partake of this sweetness every day, every hour, and even every minute by having a joyful countenance and a humble prayer in our hearts. :)
On Sunday I had the opportunity of helping teach the Priesthood hour to our district. The theme for the lesson was "Faith In Jesus Christ". We focused a lot on the definition found in the Bible Dictionary on 'Faith' I would ask of you to read this short definition and see how our humble seeds of faith can grow stronger every day, we are promised that through diligence we can one day be Forest Kings rooted in a system founded upon faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Sacrament Meeting on Sunday:
"Our spiritual journey is a lifetime of work, we may not know it all but we know enough. We know to keep Gods Commandments" Neil L. Maxwell (friendly reminder that life is hard, but most times we make it harder on ourselves then it needs be)
"Empty the trash out of your pockets each night, then take out the trash bag on Sunday"
from Repentence (your friend who is always there for you)
What a blessing the Sacrament ordinance is, through it we can fully utilize the gift of repentance helping perfect our lives each week.
On Sunday we had the opportunity to hear from President Allan, director of Missionary work. He taught a very unique meeting engaging the crowd throughout by having us stand up and read scriptures and allowing us to ask questions. He also brought a powerful reminder that before everything good in this life the adversary will fight against you with every force he can. PUSH through this hostile state in every part of your life, especially if your feeling it here in the MTC the mission field, and especially if preparing for a mission.
Tuesday Night we had the opportunity to hear from Joseph F Sitati of the Seventy, his message, while difficult to always comprehend due to broken English, was powerful! From it I gained a better testimony on the need for strict obedience. Obedience bring peace of mind, which in turn brings happiness and confidence; both necessary for successful missionaries.
He also helped me find the Scripture I've been looking for for my missionary plaque, Moroni 8:2-3 (insert your own name). Jesus Christ is mindful of our every need. He is always there. He has placed His confidence in every single one of us to share his ministry and perform His holy work. With our continued faith and diligence in Him we can endure, even to the end. As we go through life's challenges pray for his infinite goodness and grace to be with you always. We've signed up to be soldiers for the Lords royal army, now its time to go to battle representing our Savior, even Jesus Christ.
gracias for your continued love and support,
love,
Elder Larsen
