Family and Friends,
I hope everyone is enjoying the Spring months as things slowly start to warm up and flowers begin to bloom. This past week has been an uphill spiritual adventure highlighted by our ¨Aunt¨ Graciela who has been a friend from the beginning here in Villegas.
Elder Man and Elder Hanson went on divisions leaving Angus and I. We were pretty excited to see how the two new guys handled their first time solo in the street. Upon returning to the apartment and having finished planning for the next day, we were patiently waiting for our companions to come home. Over a mug of Mate and english practice, time quickly passed by until it was 20 minutes past curfew and they still weren´t home.. A little nervous as to what might have happened we gave em a phone call, Elder Man answered in an exhausted voice ¨We´re almost home, were running!!¨ Angus and I exchanged smiles and returned to our conversation.
Suddenly Hanson and Man burst through the door, some drops of sweat beating from there face. They both had grins the size of watermelons as they started relaying the days events simultaneously.. Leaving Angus and I confused we finally just asked ¨WHAT?!? What happened.. One at a time!¨ Elder Man then went on to share the experience they had within the home of Graciela.
Graciela, who has been attending various church meetings the past couple months and reading from passages of the Book of Mormon had obtained desires to be baptized. Her visiting daughter from France leaves for home next week and Graciela would love to be baptized this Saturday before Cynthia heads home!!!
I sat there in awe as Elder Man continued talking.. ¨You wouldn´t believe she was so excited, and we really just really quickly had the oppurtunity to share that there was a lot of work to do this next week and a half to prepare for her baptism. But she was so excited! I made plans to stop by everyday!¨
I couldn´t believe it.. Graciela our ¨Aunt¨ from the beginning that we stayed in her hotel clear back in December.. Our ¨Aunt¨ that invites us over for Sunday dinner every Sunday.. Our ¨Aunt¨ that suprised me with a special birthday cake two weeks ago.. Our ¨Aunt¨ who has continually shown forth Christ-like love towards 4 young men from other countries even though she comes from Catholic backgrounds shared she wanted to be baptized this coming week?
¡Vamos todo via!
The gospel of Jesus Christ has the capacity to change lives, mend broken hearts, and allow our Brothers and Sisters the oppurtunity to have an eternal life with our Father in Heaven. We never know how much our example or smile means to others.. Keep sharing this great message of the gospel to all, the message that we have a Savior and Joy can be found in this life... I love all of you and appreciate the support I feel from home. Keep on smilin on!
